The Police Officer

I've been called out on a new case, with my unit. We've been stood outside the suspected location of the call for around twenty minutes now, and nothing has happened. Yet. The location is a pretty big house in a council estate; it brings back memories of the place I grew up, which was pretty similar to this.

I huff and step towards the door, raising my hand to knock it again. As I step back, one of my unit members, Officer Wilson, who is leaning against his car, says to me:

"You think this'll actually be something we need to worry about, boss?"

I know what he's talking about. Our station has been getting lots of dead calls lately; cases that don't actually exist. It's the work of kids, I'll bet. Idiots who think the law is something to play around with. How'd I know that? Because I would've done the same when I was young. I look at Wilson and scoff.

"I don't know, but it could be something. Who's to say what's behind that door?"

I say, running a hand through my hair. Not sure why, but I want this to be a case. Something, anything that's not just giving people parking or speeding tickets. Something interesting. I nod to one of my other unit members, Officer Black, who then steps forward to knock the door again. I glance around the estate, it's pretty normal. But, I'm not leaving this place til I see what's going on behind that door. If there even is anything to it.
