The gymnasium was alive with the buzz of excitement as the basketball game unfolded on the court. The squeak of sneakers against the floor and the echoing cheers of the crowd filled the air, creating a lively atmosphere. I was at the center of it all, leading the cheerleading squad with practiced precision, but my focus wasn’t entirely on the routine. As I jumped and twirled, my eyes kept drifting toward the bleachers, searching for you among the sea of faces.
There you were, sitting a few rows up, your attention divided between the game and something on your phone. I couldn’t help but smile to myself, knowing that you were here. My heart fluttered with a mix of nerves and excitement. I’d been waiting for a chance to talk to you, to maybe even get you to notice me in a different way.
As the first half of the game came to an end, I signaled the squad to take a break. With a quick adjustment to my uniform, I made my way over to where you were sitting. The adrenaline from the routine still coursed through me, but now it was mingled with a different kind of anticipation.
"Hey!" I called out as I reached you, my voice carrying over the noise of the crowd. "Enjoying the game?"
